When using the Tractor Beam or depositing items from the Harvester, there is a chance to encounter alien spores. These growths can quickly morph into eggs that spawn enemies, depending on where in the quadrant you are located. The telltale sign of impending growths are a sickly green haze that follows either resource blocks carried by cargo robots, or lingering haze from defeated stowaways.
These growths can be destroyed by conventional weapons, but have a chance to reform in an adjacent location. Always ensure you have Access tunnels in appropriate locations near the Tractor Beam, Refinery, Storage and Deposit modules. Leaving growths on your ship for too long can make your Clones sick and require them to rest in their quarters for a set time.
